What to Bring & What Not to Bring
Faith and Adventure Horse Camp at Grand Oaks

The information below indicates items that are essential, recommended or prohibited during sessions of A Center for Living Hope's Faith and Adventure Horse Camp being held at the Grand Oaks Resort from June 1-5, 2026.

Required Guidelines for Safety and Health

Clearly label any extra clothing, lunches, drink bottles, and any other personal items your camper will bring with your child's name.

Clothing: At least two hours each day will be spent outside, at times under cover and at times not. Though it will be hot, long pants (preferably jeans) are required when riding horses as well as boots with a one inch heal or a hiking boot of some type will also work. Closed toe shoes must be worn at all times during camp, no sandals are allowed around the horses. Most shirts or t-shirts will be acceptable but please refrain from wearing any clothing that has slogans promoting non-Christian values. Also refrain from wearing any clothing that is overly blousy or loose that could get caught on tack and or other equine equipment while mounting, riding, or dismounting.
The second day of camp, one of the three sessions is bathing a horse. It is highly encouraged that each camper bring shorts and t-shirt to change into for this session as there is a high probability of getting wet during this activity. Also bring shoes that will not be ruined if they get wet but are not the same shoes to be worn for the rest of the day and other activities.

Helmets: Each camper will be required to wear a riding helmet during the riding portion of the camp. Helmets will be provided by A Center for Living Hope.

Food and drinks: Camper is required to bring a lunch and refillable water bottle each day. Snacks will be provided and water bottles will be refilled as needed during the camp.

Other suggested items for a camper to bring: Sunblock, sunglasses, and bug spray.

Do NOT Bring These Items - They Are Prohibited:

Substances: Alcohol or tobacco in any form, cigarettes, vapes, illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, or any medication prescribed to another person.
Weapons: of any kind (including pocket knives), fireworks, lighters or matches.
Electronic Devices: Campers may not have electronic devices of any kind. Any device brought to camp will be collected and stored until the end of each day. *If a camper is REQUIRED to have a device on their person for any reason, you must coordinate with camp and/or medical staff.

Each camper will receive a Gideons Bible. A journal and pen will be provided.
The fruit of the Spirit is the focus at camp; Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self Control.
Please have your camper focus on these for camp.
